The Morro Bay Dance Club has been bringing live music and joy to our community for over 40 years
I couldn’t walk six months ago, post stroke. Over the last six months my balance has improved so much that I no longer need a cane anymore. I am now able to enjoy being on the dance floor.

My life has been enriched from this dance. From my first lesson my life change for the better. I even met my wonderful wife at this dance.

The Morro Bay Dance Club has benefited my life in so many ways. When I’m dancing, I feel so happy! I have to concentrate on it so much, that I forget my daily cares and worries. Ballroom dancing is a wonderful physical activity. It helps with dexterity, balance, and flexibility, as well as muscle toning. It improves my posture. Dancing improves my mental capacity, as well. It utilizes the memory and creative thinking skills. As a musician, I have noticed an improvement in music performance. Keeping track of the rhythm and maintaining the tempo as I dance assists me when I perform as a soloist and with other musicians. I can’t say enough in favor of the Morro Bay Dance Club!

My Experience with the Morro Bay Dance Club
Over a decade ago, while serving as President of a dance club in Bakersfield, I had the pleasure of visiting the Morro Bay Dance Club. I was immediately struck by how warm, welcoming, and friendly everyone was. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine smiles and open arms—it made a lasting impression.
I returned home inspired and shared my experience with our members, encouraging us to adopt the same spirit of hospitality and community. It was a true example of how dance brings people together—not just through music and movement, but through kindness and connection.
Since then, I’ve remained involved with the Morro Bay Dance Club, and it continues to be a source of joy. We have so much fun at each gathering, making new friends, enjoying the music, and learning through the lessons offered twice a month. It’s more than just a dance club—it’s a community.

I’ve been coming to the dance for 10 years now. Dancing is my happy place. There are so many things to love here, the bands, socialization, dancing and the pot lucks. I like to come as oftern as I can.

Old Dog Learns New Tricks
Never thought that I would be interested in dancing. The interest came at a time I felt I need to do something new/ reinvent myself so to speak. Little did I know how much of a adventure dancing was. Not only has it provided physical and mental exercise, it has increase my social skills. It’s hard to frown when you are dancing. The amount of fun is unlimited. No matter what my skill level is or is not, it is always fun.

After the unexpected loss of my spouse for thirty-plus years, I retired and relocated to Morro Bay. I had previously visited the area and loved its Rock and coast, especially as I enjoy the beach.
Seeking a new beginning and unfamiliar with the area, I searched for local activities. The Community Center posted an advertisement, “Come Dance with Us” from the 39+ Dance Club. Their friendly members welcomed me to join their dance group. They have a large dance floor, live music, and dance instructors. For ten years, I have actively participated in dance and promoted it in the community.
In Morro Bay, I found a new purpose, a dance family, and a church community. I am grateful to my friends here for their support and friendship.
